Over the weekend of July 18 and 19 Jackie Moores, Angela Martin and Gillian Merchant (from Pyworthy) and Nicola Hammond (from Bude), otherwise known as The Duracell Mummies, took part in the Trailwalker 2009 challenge over the South Downs raising money for Oxfam and the Ghurka Welfare Trust. Their
challenge was to walk 100 kilometres (62 miles) in 24 hours from The Queen Elizabeth Park at Petersfield to Brighton Race Course over the South Downs and the team successfully completed the challenge in 22 hours.
