KEEN cyclists from the area are being encouraged to join a charity London to Paris cycle ride.

The event is not new to Michael Armstrong, from Coads Green, who has taken part twice before.

He was inspired to get involved ten years ago, following the birth of his daughter Nicole in 2003, who has Down's Syndrome. Two years later, Michael completed his very first cycle for the Cornwall Down's Syndrome Support Group, from London to Paris.

Michael turned 40 in that year and 2015 will see him in his 50th year, when he will be back on the bike again — this time taking part, along with his 17-year-old son Joseph, in the 2015 London 2 Paris Charity Cycle.

Over the past ten years, Michael has cycled two London to Paris cycle challenges, one Cornwall to Paris, one Amsterdam to Berlin and has organised three Cornwall Cycle events, where all participants left from Launceston Rugby Club and cycled to Land's End in one day.
