TEN children from Boscastle School entered the verse speaking section of the St Austell Festival.

The children, who ranged in age from 6 to 10, learned their poems by heart to perform them in front of the judge and a large audience.

Poems ranged from humorous tales of dads climbing trees to rescue cats through to traditional poetry by Charles Causley.

Congratulations were expressed to Katy for winning her class and to all the children for their superb performances.

Headteacher, Sarah Duffy was delighted with the children’s work, she said: “The children have practiced performing their poems in our assemblies and they have entertained us all with their enthusiasm and skill.”
