THIRTY-ONE of the younger pupils from Camelford Primary School headed to Delabole Community Fire Station recently to learn about fire safety.

The children are currently learning about the Great Fire of London and were given a tour around the station as well being shown how much damage fire can cause in such a short period of time.

Station manager, Mark Saltern, said: “The kids got to have a look around the station and we showed them the kit and the appliances. They then made cardboard box houses as they’re learning about the Great Fire of London. We then gave a demonstration of how quickly fire can spread and the impact of smoke, which sets off the fire alarm.

“We then got the hoses out and they helped us wash down the appliances. It was a really good morning and they all seemed to really enjoy themselves.”
