NORTH Petherwin Primary School was delighted to host an art festival in their playing field on Monday, June 21.

The art tent arrived empty, to be filled with art works and crafty creations made by the children.

Caroline Cleave has been the artist leading the children's training and activities.

Boyton, Egloskerry and Warbstow schools were invited to join North Petherwin in the fun, and the children were bussed in to take part in a variety of workshops run by local artists, including Print-Mania, Felting, Card Sculpture, Indigo Dyeing, Flags and Bunting and Portraits and Mono-Prints.

The flags flying outside North Petherwin have been designed and made by the children. The pupils involved really enjoyed the activities. Joe Eastwood said: "It was really nice for Mr Newton to teach us how to make masks", whilst Owen Hill commented: "It was fantastic dyeing the fabric."

Phoebe Chambers said: "It was a great experience learning from artists", and John Hopper added: "It was creative and imaginative."

George Bearns concluded: "It was really good and we enjoyed it."

There was a big celebration day on Thursday, with around 200 children and families in the afternoon.

In the early evening they enjoyed a drum circle with Drum Crazy, music from Black Galleon and family picnics.
