THE annual ‘Pumpkins on Parade’ competition took place at Camelford Library on Tuesday, October 30.

A fantastic array of pumpkins carved by local children were on display and the children took part in Halloween colouring and listened to spooky stories, read to them by mayor Kirsty Ferguson, Cllr Rob Rotchell and town clerk Esther Grieg.

There were sweets aplenty for the runners up and the three winners of the pumpkin carving received prizes for their efforts. In third place was Phoebe, second place Brooke and the winner was Keeley.

It was a wonderful opportunity to bring more people into the library, which was saved from closure by Camelford Town Council in April this year. Camelford’s Christmas Winter Festival takes place on December 1 from 6pm, starting with a lantern parade led by Camelford Primary School and local singing group North Coast Harmony, with the town lights being switched on at 7pm and a fantastic firework display at 7.30pm. Late night shopping, local market stalls and Woody’s pizza will be there to provide food and refreshments whatever the weather!
