ST GEORGE'S Day was celebrated in true fashion at a pub in Holsworthy last Wednesday. From special St George beer to steak and ale pies, everything English was served at the White Hart Hotel. St George flags were strewn across the outside of the pub — landlord Jon Hutchings believes it had the most on the outside of the building in the country. He said: "The pub is decorated and probably had more St George's Crosses on it than any other pub in England!" A street party was held, including entertainment from Morris dancers, Bideford Phoenix Morris, and live band, 'Sausage and the Face' on the pub's balcony. Mr Hutchings hosts the celebrations each year to recognise the patron saint and is lobbying for it to become a bank holiday.
