A NEW national pilot project has just been launched which aims to address bathing water quality at Summerleaze Beach, Bude.

The Cleaner Seas Project is being delivered by Volunteer Cornwall on behalf of the Environment Agency.

By engaging the local community and offering assistance to farmers and tourism businesses, the project hopes to ensure that bathing water quality at Bude beaches, or exceeds, the new required standard by 2015.

In March, it was announced that Summerleaze had failed its annual bathing water quality test, according to the Marine Conservation Society.
