THE proclamation of the opening of St Peter’s Fair was given on Wednesday, July 5, by the town crier at the site of the ‘Old Great Tree of Holsworthy’ ahead of the traditional ‘Bread Weighing Ceremony’.

Town crier Roger Dunstan kicked off proceedings for what proved to be a very successful ‘Fair Day’.

The sun shone down as the proclamation was read.

Then, town tradition was upheld once again with the ceremonious Bread Weighing, carried out at the site of the Old Great Tree.

This year’s bread weighers were Nick Cousins, Barry Parrish and Betty Oke, who was Pretty Maid in 1947.
