THE Diocese of Truro welcomed two new deacons and seven new priests at the annual Petertide Ordinations, on Saturday, July 1, at Truro Cathedral — including the Rev Teresa Folland for Launceston and the Rev Annabel King for the Benefice of the Callington Cluster, who were ordained as priests.

The cathedral was full for the services, which also saw the Rt Rev Tim Thornton, Bishop of Truro at his last ordinations in the diocese. Bishop Tim leaves to take up a post at Lambeth in the autumn.

Following her ordinance, Rev Folland was welcomed to St Thomas the Apostle Church in Launceston on Sunday morning, July 2, where she took her first service, presiding over the parish Eucharist, as part of Patronal Festival Day.

A bring and share lunch was held at St Thomas Hall after the service. The ‘Mayoral procession’ then preceded to St Stephen the Martyr Church for the annual Civic Service. During the service the mayoress Margaret Young gave an address.

Jonathan Mann from St Stephen’s Church gave prayers, leading into the Lord’s Prayer, before everyone joined in the singing of ‘Trelawny’.

The blessing was given and everyone was invited to follow the choir and Mayoral procession out of the church and onto St Stephen’s hall for light refreshments.
