Police said a further witness has stated the caller was with another man who remained outside the property during the incident. Both men were seen to leave in a silver coloured Ford Focus, which headed on the A39 towards Bideford. The Ford Focus had a front offside hub cap missing.

The man was directed to the bar area, before he then walked outside where he met with a second man and then made off in a Ford Focus registration AJ53GWE or similar.

At 8.15pm on same evening two men, again matching descriptions given above, were found in one of the bedrooms of the Bencoolen Inn, Bude, and police said that whilst in the process of being escorted from the building they made off through the fire escape
