MOST dogs love nothing more than being able to run along the beach, feel the sand between their paws and even have a quick dip in the sea, writes Richard Whitehouse, local democracy reporter.
Yet not all beaches in Cornwall welcome dogs at all times with 48 beach and coastal areas covered by Public Spaces Protection Orders (PSPOs), which place seasonal restrictions on when your four-legged friends are allowed to visit.
However, there are also 54 beaches across Cornwall where dogs are welcome all year round with no restrictions.
In the Post area, this includes Summerleaze beach, which was Good Beach Guide Recommended in 2015. Summerleaze has a unique appeal not least because it is less than five minutes’ walk from the centre of Bude. Also included is Sandymouth beach, also Good Beach Guide Recommended in 2015, where when the tide is at its lowest it’s possible to take in the spectacular coastline between Bude and Sandymouth by walking the two miles along the beach; Port Gaverne beach, which is a sheltered, narrow cove with plenty of sand at low tide and neighbour to Port Isaac, and may be the quaintest cove in north Cornwall nestling in under the cliffs; Trebarwith Strand beach, also Good Beach Guide Recommended 2015, and is just over two miles from Tintagel along the north Cornwall heritage coastline landmarked by Gull Rock; Northcott Mouth beach — ruggedly beautiful, Northcott Mouth is a rocky cove, but a sandy beach emerges when the tide is out.
