THE Open and Homing Day of the Launceston and District Cats Protection took place on Saturday, September 10 at Hexworthy Barton, Lawhitton. The weather was very kind to organisers again this year.

There were lots of goods on sale, more than other years, including nearly new clothes, cat related goods, paintings, plants, soft-toy tombola, free children’s lucky dip, plus other stalls to interest children, plenty of good quality bric-a-brac, Cats Protection goods, cards and calendars, many jigsaws, plants and much more plus a selection of cakes.

Tea and coffee were served plus cream teas and supporters were able to sit out in Mary’s gardens and enjoy these in the sunshine.

Apart from raising much needed money, the aim is also to get a home or two for the cats in the branch’s care and subject to home checks — Mary thinks she will place two or three cats and three kittens.

A branch spokesperson said: “The great sum of £1,600.94 was raised. The branch would like to thank all who came to support us plus the many helpers before and on the day and most of all to Mary, for all her hard work on top of the usual work with the cats; also thanks to Chris and Sue for their considerable help in many ways.”
