A DONATION of more than £2,000 was made to Port Isaac RNLI and Cornwall Air Ambulance recently which has helped complete the RNLI’s appeal to fund a new lifeboat.
The presentation was made at Port Isaac RNLI Christmas event, staged annually within the Station’s Boat House, was further enhanced this year by the attendance of representatives of the confectionary company, Buttermilk Confections and Cornwall Air Ambulance as well as Port Isaac RNLI’s very own Father Christmas.
The crew, committee members and supporters gathered together at the lifeboat station for the presentation, by the owner of Buttermilk Confections, Tracy McDonnell Goad, of £2,077 cheques to both Cornwall Air Ambulance and Port Isaac RNLI.
This generous donation completed the ‘Port Isaac RNLI Appeal’ that has been running over the past 18 months to raise £52,000 to fund a new lifeboat for the station.
This is due to take place in September 2019, as the existing lifeboat goes out of operational service.
On accepting the donation, Port Isaac RNLI chairman Bob Bulgin thanked Buttermilk Confections for their most significant contribution towards the appeal.
He added: “If we ask our crews to set out often in hostile conditions they need to have the best tools to do the job. With this in mind Buttermilk help, in no small way, to meet this criteria and so help save lives at sea.”
