MARGARET O'Sullivan, aged 67 from Polyphant, recently completed a tandem skydive raising over £1,000 for the Children's Hospice South West Precious Lives Appeal. Mrs O'Sullivan has been supporting the Children's Hospice South West since she moved to Cornwall nine years ago. She has visited both Little Bridge House at Fremington and Charlton Farm, Somerset and said: "They are absolutely wonderful." She is also an active member of the local community. She is treasurer of Launceston and Werrington Mothers' Union, Chairman of Launceston Old Cornwall Society, a member of the Theatre Group at Launceston U3A and she is a member of Polyphant Ladies Club. Explaining why she chose to take part in the skydive at Perranporth Airfield on Saturday, February 21, Mrs O'Sullivan said: "I don't knit, but I can persuade friends to sponsor me, so the parachute jump is something I can do to help the Precious Lives Appeal." Although Mrs O'Sullivan is no stranger to extreme sports having previously done abseiling and paragliding, she said she did not particularly enjoy the parachute jump: "The jump was quite an experience but not one I would repeat unless a millionaire could be found who would pay all the building costs for Little Harbour (the new hospice in Cornwall), pay all the running costs of it for the next ten years and give me personally £1 million!" Mrs O'Sullivan was very pleased to have raised over £1,000 in sponsorship for CHSW: "It's what made me do it, without that I wouldn't have done it."
