THERE has been a focus on ‘how to stay safe’ at Bude Junior School recently, with a visit from a local PCSO.

PCSO Gary Langan visited all classes to discuss an anti-bullying theme with the children, who also found out about the power and danger of posting images on social media.

A message explaining the safety visit was posted on the Bude Police Facebook page shortly before the visit, and it was explained to pupils that it had travelled to Australia and back, being viewed by over 5,000 people, within 48 hours.

A representative from NSPCC’s ChildLine organisation also visited the school to deliver both their ‘speak out — stay safe’ assembly, and workshops to each Year 3 class.

The ‘how to stay safe’ message was reinforced by ChildLine, and the children learned a novel way of remembering their helpline phone number.
