Police are appealing for witnesses to come forward following a single vehicle collision which occurred on the eastbound carriageway of the A30 at Tregadillett, Launceston at about 10.15am on Thursday, January 1.
A red Fiat Punto left the road on the nearside and smashed through wooden fencing. The fencing came through the windscreen of the vehicle causing injuries to the two female occupants.
Two fire appliances from Launceston and the rescue tender from Bodmin attended the incident.
The driver, an 18 year old from Dorset was air lifted by air ambulance to Derriford Hospital with head and chest injuries. Her condition was described as not life threatening and stable.
The front seat passenger, an 18 year old from Alderney, was taken to Derriford by land ambulance with facial and chest injuries, she was also described as stable.
Many motorists stopped to help at the scene but they were not witnesses. It was believed that an elderly couple travelling east also stopped and may have witnessed the collision but they left prior to the arrival of the police.
The investigating officer is appealing for witnesses and especially the elderly couple to come forward.
