A COMMUNITY exhibition detailing residents' experiences of Bude during the years of rationing will depict the humour, poignancy and tragedy of the period, according to curator Clair Roberts.
Clair appealed through the Post for anyone who had memories of the years 1939 to 1945 to contact her as part of research being undertaken for her degree course.
A number of people made contact with her and, so far, she has interviewed ten people, with another 20 lined up to speak to before the end of November.
Kilkhampton resident Clair said: "The memories and stories that I have heard about have covered every emotion — some funny, some poignant, some tragic, some downright hilarious and some that cannot be mentioned — but every single one absolutely fascinating and interesting.
"I absolutely love chatting to our senior members of the Bude community and letting them recall their stories, which, once they get going, come flooding back like it was only yesterday."
