BUDE Carnival committee vice-chairman, Dick Dingle, has pleaded with Bude-Stratton Town Council to provide extra funds and space for next year’s carnival.

This year’s carnival brought in significantly less than last year, £1,400 compared to over £2,000 in 2015 but that was in no small part due to poor weather throughout the day.

Mr Dingle said: “We want more support from the council if we can towards the carnival.

“In recent years we have pulled it back and made the carnival better and we’ve now got new talent on the committee who want to move it forward.

“We’ve also been approached by someone who wants somewhere to be able to put some children’s rides for the evening but we need a place to put it.

“We’ve thought about maybe the Parkhouse Centre car park and another potential site but we wanted to come to you about it first.

“We’re just asking for a little bit more assistance and help and we hope that you can help us.”

The council agreed to put it on the agenda for the next recreational committee meeting.
