Tenby Playgroup was recently awarded its gold award for a three-year commitment to the Designed to Smile programme.

Tara Gover, oral health promotion officer, said: "We are delighted to present this award to Yvonne and her team. They have overcome some huge obstacles this year with the building work going on in their setting, but despite this, they continue to embed daily tooth brushing with the children.

"Staff have worked well to ensure that they promote oral health, along with all other aspects of the Healthy Pre School Scheme. Brushing teeth at an early age, along with sensible eating habits, has been proven to reduce the risk of tooth decay and gum disease. Nationally, we are seeing some evidence of a reduction of dental caries across Wales. We look forward to continuing to support Yvonne and her team."
