IT HAS been forty years since two Launceston men won the golfing competition for the Royal Cornwall Goblett, completing a 36-hole golf course instead of the usual 18-hole golf courses seen today.

In May 1976, Paul Raftry and the late Peter Bradley won the competition, which will never be won again in the same circumstances since a 36-hole course is no longer played in modern tournaments.

In the May 15, 1976 edition of the Post the article read: ‘LAUNCESTON PAIR’S SUCCESS — Two Launceston golfers, Peter Bradley and Paul Raftry, won the Cornwall Golf Union’s foursomes competition for the Royal Cornwall Goblett this week.

They won the competition, held at Trevose, with a net score of 139 for the 36 holes.’

Peter Bradley, of Launceston, passed away recently and his funeral has been schedualed for this week.
