A MEMBER of Bude Scout Unit has achieved a chief scouts award by completing a series of running, acting and volunteering challenges.
Ruth Hardy, a member of Porth-Emmet (Bude) Explorer Scout Unit, has completed her chief scouts platinum award — for the last year she has been working hard to earn the award alongside her Duke of Edinburgh bronze award.
To gain the award she had to take up a skill, physical activity and volunteer some of her time. Ruth’s skill was acting — she performed in a production of Cider with Rosie at Budehaven School. The physical element was running and she volunteered her time as a young leader at the 1st Bude Cub Scout Pack. She also had to take part in a one-night two-day expedition, which took place on Bodmin moor.
Along with her chief scouts award Ruth has completed her Bronze Duke of Edinburgh award, which will be awarded to her soon.
Kira Pollard from North Cornwall District, Porth-Emmet (Bude) Explorer Scout Unit, said: “The unit would like to say a big congratulations to unit member Ruth Hardy for completeing her Chief Scouts Platinum award.
“A lot of time, effort and commitment are needed to complete these awards and Ruth has done a brilliant job, well done!”
