THE ‘All Gauges Model Railway Exhibition’ held in Launceston Town Hall recently, organised by a small group of members of the Launceston area group of the ‘N Gauge Society’ was a great success and was attended by 250 visitors.
There were over 20 mixed gauge layouts with nine N Gauge, many OO and a ‘Thomas The Tank’ layout that children could operate, which many had lots of fun with — this was organised by the ‘North Cornwall & Devon Model Railway Club’.
Some members attended and were able to help with selling tickets at the door and setting up displays in the hall.
There was a display from Plymouth G gauge and a display of the 1950’s Hornby OO three rail layout and some fine O gauge models, exhibitors came from Plymouth, Holsworthy, Bideford, Barnstaple, Helston, South Wales and Launceston.
Visitors came from all areas of Devon and Cornwall and the British Legion Launceston branch provided a wide range of food and drinks sales.
Thanks must go to all the people who brought displays and the four trade stands and helpers who supported this exhibition a first for Launceston, a special thanks to Launceston Town Council Staff for help.
The multi-storey car park was soon full with many visitors coming into Launceston spending time in the town as well as at the exhibition.
With this success the Launceston group hope to arrange an exhibition in 2017, should anyone need details on local clubs in the area or would like to bring a layout next year contact Les on 07972 333202 or email [email protected]
