PLANS for ten dwellings at North Hill have been lodged with Cornwall Council.
The application seeks permission to build the dwellings — three of which are to be affordable dwellings — on land adjacent to Lynher Close.
Documents submitted to the council state the site has extant outline planning permission for 13 dwellings, but that this attracted objections from the parish council and local community — ‘that there were too many dwellings proposed, and because there was a lack of available parking space per dwelling’.
The current scheme seeks to reduce the number of dwellings, and to increase the amount of parking available to each new dwelling.
Agent Graeme Barclay Architect, on behalf of applicant Mr Graeme Bariball, told Cornwall Council: “The applicant recognises that, in a rural location, it is normal to have at least two cars per household because of work patterns and the need to manage children. Increased parking will reduce the potential for conflict between neighbours.”
A mix of two three-bed bungalows, three four-bed detatched houses, two three/four-bed semi-detached houses, one two-bed house and two one-bed affordable flats are proposed. Each dwelling would have a rear garden with side access. Each dwelling would be provided with a minimum of two car parking spaces and some of the houses will have a single garage, and potential for a third car.
The agent added: “The village is a thriving community, and the site is within easy walking distance of many local facilities. The provision of the new dwellings will give an additional source of people to call upon local services and facilities thus aiding their retention to the benefits of all residents.”
