ON Tuesday April 21, 70 Launceston Seniors took part in an individual stableford qualifying competition. Played in three divisions the scores were very similar in each and despite good conditions there were no outrageous results even though the Captain's generous "Tuesday Only" handicaps were in operation. "Swiss Joe" did however get a "hole in one" and treated members accordingly. A comment was made that in previous reports "Morley" was often mentioned but not further identified, it must be pointed out that he is Club President and as such should not need introduction to members. Results

The Seniors team were at home to Stover on Tuesday and recorded a magnificent 6 to 0 victory. The team must have been in fine form as only one game was carried to the 18th. Morley Brown turned up to play in the club competition only to find he was drafted in to play with Jim Manson in the match. Paul Roach won the wine hole for the home side, it should be noticed that Terry Swords was not in the team on this occasion.
Results: Robin Johnson (Cpt) & Peter Fisher won 3&2;
Paul Roach & Gerald Cramp (V/Cpt) won 3&2; Jim Manson & Morley Brown won 2&1; Derek Davey & Neville Helme won 5&4; Pat Johnston & Tim Johnson won 2 up; Rodney Duke & Robert & Loughran won 3&1.
On Thursday the 23rd the Seniors travelled to Torquay and only just lost 4½ to 3½. The results were very mixed with some finishing well before the 18th . Captain Robin thought he was in with a chance for the wine when only 4ft away on the NTP hole, a putt which he converted by the way. Receiving the cards from following groups his confidence grew until dashed by the last pair. Imagine the comments when it turned out to be Terry Swords making it three in a row when playing in the team, perhaps the Captain's selection choice for future matches may be influenced by this.
Results: Robin Johnson (Cpt) & Richard Dudley won 2&1; Derek Ratcliffe & Robert Loughran lost 3&2; Brian Ben-David & Tim Johnson won 4&3; Peter Howard & Dave Harding lost 7&6; Graham Nevitte & Ken Rogers lost 2&1; Peter Holland & Morley Brown lost 3&2; Pat Johnston & David Napier won 4&3; Terry Swords & Tony Bowden halved.
