A PETITION started by North Cornwall MP Dan Rogerson to bring railway services closer to communities in east and north Cornwall has been backed by hundreds of local people, say the Liberal Democrats.

The petition supports the plan to re-open the railway line between Plymouth and Exeter via Tavistock and Okehampton and asks Network Rail to explore the options for extending the line to communities in north and east Cornwall.

Mr Rogerson launched his petition at http://bit.do/NorthCornwallRailways">http://bit.do/NorthCornwallRailways last week — almost 2,000 people in the Bude, Launceston and Camelford areas have already signed it, along with people from across Cornwall, the UK and as far afield as France and Germany.
