Bude Veterans' Medal Friday March 6 — Den Haydon, still in form, won the monthly medal with a nett 69, 2nd Dave Tucker 70, 3rd Ron Gilbert 71, 4th Bill Haggas 73, 5th Peter Turner also 73, and 6th Llew Courtenay 74.

Surprise of the day was the vanishing trolley at the 17th green belonging to Peter Turner. After searching the stream adjacent to where Peter had parked his trolley, it was eventually found on the path near the 18th tee without anyone noticing it had made its way there under its own steam some 100 yards away "magic"?

Match March 4 — The first match of the year saw the Seasiders set off for Saunton in cold and slightly damp forecasted weather conditions.

Result: Saunton won 41/2-11/2 but good company and good grub softened the blow

Wilf Keat won the bottle of wine on the nearest the pin hole.

Barry Sykes and Jim Ryan lost 5 and 4, Ron Gilbert and Dave Watters gained a valuable half, Andy Muir and John Manktelow lost 2 and 1, Richard Cragg and Peter Turner lost 4 and 3, Llew Courtenay and Bernie Boniface lost 3 and 2, and Wilf Keat with Den Haydon won by one hole.
