LAUNCESTON'S Newmarket Inn was the scene of an alleged false imprisonment and 'threats to kill' early on the morning of Monday, say police.
Just before 6am, Devon and Cornwall Police received a silent '999' call from the pub, on which staff from the police call centre could hear sounds of a disturbance and threats to people within the premises. Officers were soon dispatched, said a spokesman.
A short time later, a further '999' call was received from a man who stated that he was in the pub, had three hostages and wished to talk to a negotiator.
