ACTION for Children's Holsworthy Area Children's Centre, has achieved a positive rating in its first inspection from care and education watchdog Ofsted.

The Centre in Great Oak Meadow was awarded "good" for its access to services by young children and families, quality of practice and services and effectiveness of leadership governance and management.

The centre, which is run by Action for Children on behalf of Devon County Council, provides a range of activities and advice on child and family health, parenting, money, training and employment for local parents and families.

Helen Hallam, the children's services manager at the centre, said: "We're thrilled to have been given this rating from Ofsted. This means that all of our services have met and exceeded the standards we've been set — and shows that we're making a real difference to the lives of children, young people and parents in Holsworthy."
