THE recent rise in the popularity of colouring books for adults has seen a new book hitting the shelves to promote the Launceston area.

Karen Farrington, a local artist, has created a colouring book from her own images and drawings of Launceston and its views and landmarks.

The book is called ‘A Naive Art’ and is described as a ‘creative colouring book from Launceston, Cornwall’.

Karen said: “I created the book largely because I wanted to be able to promote the town and use my own hobby to do so.

“I was largely asked to create this book by the public. In the past, I have created designs on tea-towels, mugs and other gift items as well as the cover of the Town Guide in 2013 and people asked me when I was going to get around to creating my own book.

“I tried to source everything as locally as possible, with the book being printed at Launceston Print up on the Pennygillam Industrial Estate

“I hope the book will also be a spring board for other local artists to get into art and will encourage them to take up the hobby.”

The art is all original works by Karen and is available from places including the Launceston Town Information Centre, Just Off The Square, The Little Picture Gallery.
