A LEVEL results are in and there were big smiles from many of the pupils at Launceston College who have earned the grades they need to continue on to further education.

Student Issy Paul said she was ‘over the moon’ with her results. She said: “I am so happy. I’m absolutely over the moon.

“I got an A* in history, and two As in English literature and philosophy. I’m really surprised, especially with the A* in history. It doesn’t really happen, no one gets an A* in History because it is quite hard. I just thought it was a given that I wouldn’t get one, but I did and I couldn’t believe it.”

Issy is now looking forward to continuing on to university. She said: “I am so used to saying hopefully, hopefully I will be going to Oxford, but now I actually am. I am going to Oxford University.”

Issy will now study theology and religion at Worcester College, Oxford. She said: “I am not at all religious but think the course will be interesting.”

When asked what she hopes to do after university, Issy said: “I really want to be able to do something that will help people. I would like to maybe work in something like the civil service — I originally wanted to work for the UN but I don’t think I’ll be able to do that — but I am really excited to go to university now.”
