LAUNCESTON’s Tesco recently raised £430 on a charity fun day for Diabetes UK and The British Heart Foundation.

The two charities are the chosen charities that Tesco have chosen to support this year, especially as the company are currently in the midst of the second year of three of The Eat Happy Project, a cause designed to get children eating healthily and maintain an active lifestyle.

Running from 7am-3pm, a wide range of activities were on offer including mask making with the Launceston Lions Club, a golf promotion with Launceston Golf Club, which involved hitting the ball into an inflatable, crafts and balloon modelling.

Local charity, South West Equine Protection, also brought along a horse while other local community groups were also present, making the event a great success.

There was also some fun for the kids; a teenage mutant ninja turtle and an angry bird were on hand to take plenty of selfies and prance around, which proved an excellent distraction for the kids.

Launceston’s Tesco Community Champion, Shelley Vanstone, was extremely pleased with the day.

Shelley said: “It was another successful day for us here at Tesco. We had a nice range of activities and people come to us which was pleasing, and to be able to raise a good amount of money for Diabetes UK and The British Heart Foundation makes it all worthwhile, and we hope to do something similar in a few weeks time when Halloween comes around.”
