LAUNCESTON and District Cats Protection held their annual open day on Saturday, September 14 at Mary Chidley’s home at Lawhitton.

Organisers could not have had better weather if they had ordered it and as usual Mary’s lawns were full with things to sell, including a large marquee with lots of various stalls, cakes, plants, bric-a-brac, jigsaws, good as new clothing, tombola, raffle as well as an engraving on glass donated by a local artist, plus Christmas cards, calendars and lots more.

The day was a fantastic success and very well attended. The amount raised was £2,234.25. This day is held, besides raising funds, to hopefully be able to find good, new homes for the cats and kittens in the charity’s care and this year, subject to home vetting, it is hoped the charity has found homes for six cats and four kittens.

A spokesperson from the charity said: “We give a huge thanks to our very generous supporters as well as to all the helpers who put in a lot of work, especially Mary and Chris who give over their home and beautiful grounds to the branch for the day.”
