THE organisers of a 'wine and wisdom' evening held to raise funds for Pancreatic Cancer UK have thanked all contributors and participants, after they raised over £1,100.

Held at the White Hart Hotel, Launceston, the evening was also an opportunity to commemorate the life of popular Launceston man Chris Slateford, who died last year following his own battle with pancreatic cancer.

His wife Linda and step-daughter Joby Barrow organised the event as part of their efforts to raise £3,000 for the charity, and were quick to show their appreciation.

The pair said they "would like to thank all the local businesses for wonderful raffle prizes, all who helped and attended the wine and wisdom. A profit of £1,100 is going to Pancreatic Cancer UK. Thank you also to Jane and Pam of the White Hart."

Joby is currently in training to take part in this year's London Marathon, which will take place on April 22. Money from her participation will also go towards the £3,000 target.

A 'race night' will be held on May 12, once again at the White Hart Hotel, where more funds will hopefully be raised to go towards the donation. More details regarding this event will be available nearer the time.
