IN excess of £100,000 has been awarded to local organisations by the committee behind Bodmin’s firework display — now in its 22nd year.

At the latest annual cheque presentation evening on February 19, among those benefitting from the funds raised included St Breward Toddler Group.

On the evening, cheques were issued to mainly youth based groups, totaling £8,100.

The success of the firework events is due to the efforts of the team of volunteers made up from members of Bodmin Rotary Club, The Lions Club of Bodmin, Bodmin Rugby Club, Bodmin Football Club and businesspeople.

Thanks were expressed to Bodmin Town Football Club for allowing use of their pitch side areas and grandstand plus the area where the firework display is ignited.

The 44 cheques were handed out by the chairman of Bodmin Rugby Club, David Saunter, to representatives of the various organisations.
