It was ideal weather for the St Piran's Day walk, organised by the Bude Surf Life Saving Club. Some 200 people including many children set out under blue skies, encouraged by Cornish music played on the pipes by Rob Semple. Their numerous St Piran's flags fluttering in the breeze, the walkers followed the, now, traditional route across the cliffs, across Summerleaze Beach, along by the side of the Canal and back over Nanny Moore's bridge, pausing on the downs to enjoy the sight of a blazing red sun setting into a serene sea before returning to the Club House for refreshments. The day was rounded off with entertainment at the Tree Inn, Stratton, provided by the popular local group, 'Friggin Riggin' and 'Stamp and Go' from Perranporth.
