FOR the past 25 years, the Rotary Club of Launceston organised sports for those who are intellectually disadvantaged. The games are run in the Launceston College Sports Hall.

Competitors are drawn from Cornish and Devon Voluntary Clubs which specialise in providing weekly meetings for the disadvantaged persons.

The event held this year on Sunday, May 12, attracted 120 competitors accompanied by their accredited carers.

The games, developed to suit the competitors’ abilities, include those in wheelchairs.

Lunch was prepared in the college cafeteria by a team of honorary Rotarians and a past domestic science teacher. Launceston Guides served the meals.

The college’s Year 9 students and their tutors assisted with marshaling the games.

Boys from Launceston-based Southgate Colts Football Club acted as goalkeepers in the popular penalties competition.
