A CHARITY offering free mobility classes to adults with disabilities has been given more than £4,000, which will benefit members.
Exercising For Mobility, based in Bude, offers free social exercise to adults with a disability, any long-term health condition, or balance and mobility problems. The charity, which is Big Lottery Funded, has been awarded two grants for more than £2,000 each.
The first, from Radio Cornwall, will provide a driver to transport housebound members to and from their homes to the Parkhouse Centre.
One of the founders, Janet McCulley, said: "For some of these members it is often the only time they leave their homes each week. At Exercising For Mobility they are able to enjoy some social time and meet their friends, before joining in with a gentle appropriate exercise session, where there is lots of fun and laughter."
The second grant — a Wellbeing and Preventative grant from Cornwall Community Foundation — paid for more than 100 members and their carers to enjoy a free day out at Rosemoor Gardens and Dartington Glass.
