THE Camel River Festival, hosted by The Wadebridge Chamber of Commerce drew a huge crowd on Saturday, July 16 to the town.
The main event of the day for the spectators was the annual fancy dress raft race that saw teams battle it out up to Anneka’s Bridge, and then back to the start line.
As part of the rules, the raft and paddles had to be ‘home-made’ to add to the excitement.
As usual there was an excellent turnout of between 15 and 20 for the race that saw the town’s fire crew emerge victorious, followed by Wadebridge Rugby Club and the Camelford Pirates who came third.
The afternoon was bathed in bright sunshine as a variety of craft, of all shapes and sizes made the dash between the old bridge and Anneka’s Bridge and back again before the evenings entertainment concluded with live music and children’s entertainment right up until 10.30pm.
