THERE is just one month to go before hundreds of Santas will be descending on Holsworthy and Launceston to help raise funds for Children’s Hospice South West (CHSW).
The charity’s sponsored fun runs will be taking place in Holsworthy on Friday, December 2 at 6.30pm and Launceston on Sunday, December 11 at 11am.
The event is a 2km sponsored fun run, everyone taking part will receive a free Santa suit to wear and you can walk, jog or run the 2km route. It is the first time the fun run has been held in Holsworthy.
The event is perfect to take part in with the whole family or with a group of friends or colleagues and is a great alternative to a Christmas party.
Kiley Tellam, events fundraiser for CHSW, said: “We are really looking forward to bringing Santas on the Run to Launceston and Holsworthy this year. We have already got lots of Santas signed up to take part so now is the time to grab your place, start fundraising and look forward to a day full of festive fun.”
Anyone wanting to take part in Santas on the Run should register online via www.chsw.org.uk/santas Registration costs £15 for adults, £7.50 for three to 15 year olds and children under two years-old are free. Family packages are available for £37.50 which would provide entry to the Santa Run for two adults and two children.
Those taking part are encouraged to raise as much money as possible in sponsorship for CHSW, which runs three children’s hospices including Little Harbour in St Austell and Little Bridge House in Barnstaple. The hospices are a safe haven where families with children with life threatening of life limiting illnesses can go to stay for short breaks, respite, palliative care, end of life care and bereavement support.
All the money raised from the event will go towards providing those families with short breaks at the hospices where they can make special memories together and have precious time as a family.
