THE fourth annual Lawhitton Strawberry Lunch for Cancer Research UK took place at Lawhitton Village Hall On Wednesday, July 20.

Organised by the Cancer Research UK Launceston and District Group, over 60 guests including family and friends converged on Lawhitton for the afternoon.

There, they tucked into a ploughman’s lunch which was finished off by strawberries and cream and washed down by a glass of wine.

This was all made possible by the sterling work of Val Spry, Shirley Rickard, Yvonne Tyrrell, Mary Fasham, Judy Bleay, Maureen and John Ryder-Gordon, Rosemary Cobbledick and Cis Bailey, who spent plenty of time preparing the meal, while thanks was also expressed to Tesco Launceston community liaise, Shirley Vanstone, for their generous donation and to Dairy Crest at Davidstow for the cheese.

With some generous donations and the kind help and support of their friends, over £900 was raised for Cancer Research UK while the group plans to celebrate their fifth anniversary of the popular event next year.
