ON THREE successive days earlier this month we experienced a hard ground frost on awakening.

There was no early warning forecast of this by the Exeter-based Met Office. Those worthies, however, did warn of severe rainfall for the latter part of the week. This did not materialise.

One wonders are we financing yet another Quango in Exeter when we should, by rights, be consulting our seaweed and soothsayers?
