THE annual Great Atlantic Walk recently took place in Bude amid glorious sunshine on September 18.
This annual event has been organised by the Rotary Club of Bude for over a decade.
The walk started on Crooklets beach at low tide, and walked proceeded along the shore to Sandymouth Bay, where the second part of the walk is inland, and back to Bude again, a total of six miles.
The walk was started by the Rotary Club president’s wife, Tanya, in her wedding dress, as she and Bob Willingham had only just been married the day before this event.
Over 140 people took part, of which just under half were children. This unique event allows clubs, organisations, schools and charities to raise funds for themselves and keep all of what they raise.
A total of £2,600 was raised this year, and six-year-old Alexis Chambers from Bude, who has completed the walk twice before, raised £146 on behalf of St Petroc’s School.
The day was a huge success and thanks have been extended to the Inner Wheel, who helped organise the day, and to all those who took part.
