BUDE-Stratton Town Council agreed to the removal of two public notice boards in the triangle, to be replaced with one new notice board.

During the meeting on February 7, the clerk, Keith Cornwell said: “In essence, both boards are getting to the end of their life. The one under the tree is frankly unhygienic for the staff attending, which they don’t anymore and for the public it isn’t sensible.

“In terms of what we have found they aren’t cheap and I hope people know this.”

The new blackboard proposed costs just under £2,500.

Mr Cornwell added: “Having said that the last one we purchased was £2,200.”

Cllr Lea Deely asked: “Just to clarify, where will it go?”

The town council’s administrator, Tracey Gliddon responded: “Opposite the TSB bank.”

Cllr Brian Dixon asked the committee whether this would be covered by CCTV.

Cllr Deely said: “I think it might be from the one at Lansdown or the Globe.”

Members of the council were curious to see if the new board was going to be made locally.

Mr Cornwell said: “I’m not sure if its local, research has gone into it and it appears to be good value, it’s in line with what we’d expect. Looking at this it doesn’t appear to be made locally.”

Cllr Frank Partridge said: “I suggest that the notice board would be replaced as a standard. The one outside Poughill and Stratton was replaced, I thought it was part of the recreation [budget].”

Cllr Partridge proposed the application for the new board, which was seconded by Cllr Deeley. The committee voted unanimously in favour of the change.
