AFTER a year of being built, the new music centre at Shebbear College is proving a great success among the many talented musicians at the school.

There was a flurry of excited activity as they took delivery of a new Steinway Model B Grand Piano, which is now in situ in the assembly hall.

The existing Steinway Model A Grand Piano was moved from the assembly hall and relocated in the rehearsal room in the new music building. The delivery also included a Bechstein 118 upright for piano learning, two Yamaha digital pianos for the practise rooms, two Yamaha digital pianos for the instrumental teaching rooms, two Yamaha clavinovas for classrooms and a portable Yamaha keyboard for outdoor and offsite performances.

In the first two weeks of this term, the building has been put to good use as the music department have settled in and really taken advantage of the new facility.

Even at lunchtimes you can hear a multitude of sounds, as most of the rooms are occupied by pupils practicing their various instruments.

Everyone is invited to visit the new music centre along with the rest of the school during open week from Monday, October 3, to Friday, October 7.
