A NEW course is being launched at Duchy College, Stoke Climsland, which will be the first course of its kind in the South West.
The Security, Rescue and Safety course (SRS) is designed to take advantage of the unique challenges and locations around Cornwall. As well as being a standalone course it feeds into the foundation degrees in Rescue and Emergency Management and Police Studies.
The course is different from the military aspect of most generic public service courses as it sits alongside the Military Academy.
Applications for the full-time course, which starts in September, are now being taken. Those who complete the course could progress into a number of career fields including working in the police, ambulance, fire and rescue services, RNLI, HM coastguard and prison services.
