THE Camelford Neighbourhood Policing Team have been allocated a dedicated vehicle to assist them in reaching previously inaccessible parts of their policing area.
The Landrover Freelander will primarily give them access to remote farms and difficult to reach properties. It will also afford them access to moorland enabling them to police illegal activities such as the anti-social use of quad bikes and moto X bikes.
These have always proved a challenge to police but with the new vehicle, they have already had very positive results due to their increased access capability.
The use of motorised vehicles on the moors is illegal; it causes damage to the fragile moorland landscape and distress to the animals that live there.
PC Laurie O'Toole said: "I'm sure this will increase confidence in the moorland and farming communities."
