A WHITECROFT woman had her bag stolen last Tuesday while waiting to cross the road in Lydney – but she didn't know until she went to pay for something.
The 62-year-old victim, who doesn't want to be named, was with a friend waiting for traffic lights to change outside Scott's Shoes on Newerne Street when she felt a 'tug' just before the lights changed.
Her daughter-in-law, who called the Review to warn others, said: "My mother-in-law didn't take any notice of the 'tug' as the lights changed and they both began crossing the road.
"It was only when she went to pay for something in a shop that she realised her bag had been stolen. Her handbag was found a couple of hours later, at lunchtime, at the back of the Co-op in Newerne Street. Somebody had handed it in and my mother-in-law said around £150 in cash and gifts vouchers had been stolen as well as her bank cards.
"My mother-in-law has been naturally very shaken by this and doesn't want anybody else to fall victim."
