THE new Multi Use Games Area (MUGA) at Holsworthy Community College has been officially opened.

The project has cost £80,000 and the facility will be of benefit for not only school children but will be accessible to other local groups.

Co-chair of governors Ken Watson said: “Holsworthy Community College was delighted to open officially its new Multi Use Games Area recently.

“The old sports playing surface was wearing out and the new £80,000 facility was a very welcome addition. Holsworthy Community College and local groups will get great benefit from the new MUGA.”

On the day Torridge District Councillors for Holsworthy Jon Hutchings and David Jones and Mayor Cllr Jo Heaven received a tour of the new facility from Holsworthy Community College head teacher Andrew Sweeney, head of PE Steve Vanstone and co-chair of governors Mr Watson.

Thanks were expressed to Rodney Parrish for immortalising the event with a photograph and to Ian Warn and Steve Kiff at Holsworthy Community College for their excellent support for the project.
