CALLS for better police officer support to improve public communication are being made after police front inquiry desks closed at Bude and Launceston at the end of last week.
North Cornwall Liberal Democrat MP Dan Rogerson is pressing Devon and Cornwall Police Crime Commissioner Tony Hogg to 'do more' in the county to make sure people can contact police.
Speaking after police enquiry desks closed last Friday, Mr Rogerson praised the work of policing teams, but insisted they needed more support.
He urged Mr Hogg to urgently deal with problems with the non-emergency 101 number. He is also asking him to consider re-opening the front desks or to take up offers from Cornwall Council and other organisations to use the likes of libraries and community centres as venues where residents can speak face to face with the police.
